Sometimes when playing limit hold'em poker, you find that you are playing in a ring game of five or less people. This is normally considered as a not full-ring game. Short hand hold'em is the best choice for players who like to play a lot of pots. In this game, you find that the blinds come around twice the speed of the normal blind; this means that the players stand a lesser chance of having very strong hands. For you, this means that you will be forced to fold many hands in every game you play. It also means that you have the chance to participate in many hands in a game, and this is the same way you will be raising. The short hand hold'em is not a great game choice for players who prefer to sit back and wait for big hands.

Just like all the other types of poker, the key to winning is playing aggressively. Ensure that you play your hands strongly, and if you are pleased with your hand, you need to bet it. Incase you get raised, you can always re-raise. You should be aimed at getting more heads up in a short hand hold'em.  The reason aggressiveness is needed is because you should be able to attack and protect your blinds. Otherwise, you will lose them to your opponent. Remember that in the short hand hold'em poker game, the blinds roll in quicker and loosing them could prove to be disastrous for you.

In short hand hold'em poker games, big cards and pairs are highly recommended, as is the case with full-ring games where most people miss the flops, in this case pairs or big cards will be the best, even when this is not the case, you find that your opponent thinks it is. Take this example; if you are playing in a five handed game, and you have a 5 5 under the gun, and you raise, this puts you in a bad place but because you have four opponents behind you, you are assured that you will be above two for the rest of the game. In the case where the big blind call you or the button, the flop will be Q T 6 you can bet. It is likely that the flop misses two players in which case you win. This bet can still win you the pot if you are against players with 7 7, A 6, and even T 8 if you bet aggressively in the particular hand.

You should not rely on small suited connectors in a game of limit hold'em; this is because even when you hit them, which happen rarely, you will not earn enough to sustain you through the number of times you miss.  In the case where the other players have proven to be weak, you can play aggressively to win over them, the same way you would play aggressively in any other hand.
