No-Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament Strategy | How to qualify for the EPT: the right Bankroll balance
How to qualify for the EPT: the right Bankroll balance
This happens to be the fifth out of the seven part series from EPT Serial Qualify Pierre Neuville.
Every single thing has got its price, and so does qualifying for a European poker tour event.
Right before you can get into thinking about what you need for a straight shot at qualifying for the EPT package, you need to begin with the correct general management of your poker bankroll.
How much money have you decided to use on poker? Is it an interruption for you?
Is it an obsession you have assigned a reasonable budget within your means? What is the best amount of cash that can give full support to your obsession for poker?
You need to make an evaluation devoid of emotion and put your bankroll in a different amount. You should never mix your family budget with your poker bankroll.
This little piece of information is very important for everybody who plays poker.
Poker should always be fun and it should not at any course disturb your financial state.
In poker, there is a stage for each budget, from $1 to infinity. Select yours using the right conditions and poker will be great and happy for you.
Dreams normally have got a price
Before settling down on the precise bankroll requirementsfor qualifying for the EPT, everybody must make a choice on the stage of poker that they feel is best for them.
The richest poker tour in the whole world, which happens to be the European Poker Tour, clearly demands a considerable budget.
I still think that a lot of players can manage a bankroll that will make them have a shot at qualifying for an EPT package.
From the beginning stages, you can try with only a few notes, but definitely, an actual dedicated project will demand an actual budget.
The three main divisions for your budget
For example a poker budget of €400 per month-a reasonable standard budget stage for the players who cannot afford an average way of life.
If this happens to be your poker budget, we can divide it into three parts that deal with most players' main interests:
- €200 every month towards the dream of succeeding to an EPT event.
- €100 for two tournaments in the casino that you like most.
- €100 for the normal online MTTs, which will let for 10-20 events each month.
The cost of an EPT main event buy-in plus travel &hotel is usually about €8,000.
Our aim is to succeed for a quarter of such a price.
Therefore, managing for a decent EPT qualifying budget over a whole year will make you use about € 2,400(12x€200)
Three different types of qualifiers
There are three different classes of satellite on PokerStars:
- Steps tournaments
- Multi-Table tournaments and
- Rebuy tournaments
The multi-table Tournaments
The last stages of EPT qualifier MTTs costs € 530 and round 2 pre-qualifiers to the last stage tournaments which cost €82.
My idea would be to play the 10 round 2 qualifying tournaments for €82 since that will give out a good qualification workout.
The main aim is to win the three of the 10 tournaments, which later would give you the chance to play in three €530 tournaments (€1,590) for only €820.
The steps tournaments
With a budget like the one above, I would begin with Step D on the step stages so as to play 10 total Steps tournaments.
It is also good to remain with the same type and level in any time. This gives you the chance to get into a better rhythm while you play.
With the steps tournaments you are going for the top of the poker world while you pass every level so the hardness will increase with each one.
When you play the 10 step D events, the estimated level of return would be to earn yourself the four step E tickets,2step F tickets and only 1 step G ticket…after which you hope to get yourself Step G qualifier.
The €22 Rebuy Tournaments
Tournaments such as this are a little extraordinary with their unique structure and add-ons up to 50,000 chips.
Last season won six of these and they had the least price.
With tournaments like these, we must value the rules and effectiveness.
If you begin a €22 re-buy tournament, you must, in any case get to the add-on stage.
The original tournament starts at this point, and all the players who drop out before the add-level have no chance to qualify-basically turning their original investment into a lost cause.
You should be able to make it to the actual tournament that starts at the add-on.
Getting to the add-on level means that you will divide the prize that more than 100 players have given out between 40 players.
The budget like this will be on average about €260, so we are capable of playing three of such tournaments.
The perfect EPT qualifier Management plan
I will tackleevery category of qualifier however, here in my view is the best way to manage a budget of €200 every month to get through to the EPT event.
I recommend playing the 10 round 2 MTT qualifiers at €82 each and three €22 Rebuy tournaments.
The investment once a year totals to €2,400. However, by following the teachings in this series very closely, you could increase your chances of success by about 50%.
€2,400 appears to be a lot, but remember you are trying to realize your dream as a poker player.
Remember it is still an objective. You can play well and get lucky, or you can miss out in totality.
In poker, always be ready for the best or worst.
It is a fortune to play with your champions.
Think about this first; in formula one, you can never get a chance to take a drive with Vettel Webber or even Hamilton.
You will never get a chance to play tennis with pros such as Federer or golf with Tiger. However, every single thing in poker is possible for those who take everything positively.
With only a few breaks, you could be at the table with ElkY, Liv, Daniel or even Jason.
On my side I am so happy since I have had a chance to be with them-and I hope and pray that you will achieve the same.
You can tell me all about your victorious qualifications at and join us at the next event of EPT.
