The only time you should quit a game is when you have lost so much that your bankroll cannot survive the hits any longer. This is normally when you suffer huge losses that dent your bankroll deeply all at once. Quitting now will ensure that you save the rest of your bankroll for another time, thus you quit while you are still ahead and live to play another time.

There are also the times when you have enough bankroll to survive another major blow, but your confidence and emotions are not as big as your bankroll, you should quit. This is because you will not play your best game at this state and you will lose even more and hurt even more.

You should not only wait till you are losing to quit, at times the body simply requires relaxing. You need to quit if you feel like your system is just in the brink of shutting down. When you relax, you will come back stronger and more alert and you will be able to bring your A game with you.

In order to become a great poker player, you must learn when to continue play and when to stop; these two have to balance out.
