3000-players MTTs part 1
This is the first part of the guide to going deep in large multi-table tournaments.
Huge tournaments that have a lot of players will result in big payouts-most likely over 1000 times the actual size of the buy-in.
This is enough reason to spend most of your time polishing up your MTTs plan.
Select your aim
Maybe you have never thought about this at all and you think that every person's aim in a tournament is to be the winner in first place.
A lot of players are not playing for the first place as you think; they are only playing to get cash.
For most of the players, ending anywhere in the cash is regarded a win. Such players are the ones who like the big first-place trophy, but then they are glad not to lose their buy-in.
For such players, you can only win by getting cash. If you get yourself cash, you are a winner, but if you do not get yourself money, you are a loser.
A lot of players normally play for cash.
In distinction, the players who are playing so as to win first place, are at a high risk of getting out even before the cash in return for a good chance to creating quite a big run.
First, choose what your aim is.
Do not just choose a goal simply because it sounds good, you have to be careful in making the right choice-the choice that is true to your needs and the one that you can follow.
If your aim is to play and win 3000th place and the second place are one and the same results.
This one happens to be the best choice for the good tournament players.
Here, is a simple method of explaining that:
Let us say for example you are supposed to play 10 $ 1000 buy-ins tournaments.
In the first case, you are playing only to get cash. You bust out five times out of ten before the cash; the other five you get it right in the cash.
Lose 5x $1000:-$5000
The limp into the cash 5 x $2000: $ 10,000
Total profit: $5,000
In the second state you are playing so that you may win. You do not win in nine tournaments but in the 10th one you win.
Lose 9 x 1000: – $9000
Win 1 x $300,000: $300,000
Total profit: $291,000
Real cash is the win
Just as you can see in the numbers, the real cash is in wining a tournament.
The difference is quite big since in the first case, the most you could have ever been was -$5,000, with the second scenario being -$9,000.
Always remember that all these numbers are to indicate the big difference in the payouts.
You should not expect to win one of the 10 huge MTTs over and over again.
Using a first-place payout of $300, 000, you can lose so many times before you win and still get a nice profit.
Most of the players who play for cash think that they have both the chance of winning and the chance of getting cash frequently.
Even though such players make cash more often, they are just the same as the players in cash-game who get winning streaks.
If you are limping into the cash, at the tournament chip average or even less, you must become a very serious card rack sp as to make deep.
The players who are in the game so as to win have spaced out their game gambling all around the entire game, whereas you will have to take more risk in a short time so as to make a run at the last table.
Making winning streaks
A lot of players who play in cash-games are obsessed with the idea of winning, paying no attention to the long-term results and determining the hourly earnings.
Such players will give up a winning session at a fraction of the amount they stand to win, trying as hard as they can to finish in the last.
The mindset of winning in a particular session is quite risky for a poker player, even though it can limit the win at times.
You can be tired or you do not feel well at times, if you stay on the table in a state like this, you may risk going in too deep.
Making wins can give you winnings and exaggerated losses.
The good MTT experts know quite well that luck need to be on your side.
The Lucksack plan
With tournaments that have such sizes, you need to know that you will be forced to gamble at several points so as to have a shot at booking a win.
You must earn yourself several coin flips, have your hand hold up to several strong hands and also get some luck when you are in it.
MTTs experts know that luck is very important, and they use it in their game strategy.
The part time players always say how the tournaments professionals are very lucky.
However in actual sense, other than the natural streaks of luck, the experts are not even luckier than you.
The difference is that they take the state where they are supposed to get the in flip or where they need to get luck, and ensure that they take place at appropriate times.
In a state where you have a hand that has 60% probability to win, would you get it all-in against a player who has got a third of your stack or a player who has got you protected?
In a situation like this, the part time players will go for the one third since if they lose they will have some chips top play with.
The problem comes when you make such a choice. Choices such as this will make you get into certain circumstances that will put you in a high risk of getting back to where you wee initially.
An expert is playing so as he may win and he would rather take the very same risks for the big pots which will ensure that the player struggles to go deep into the field.
Think about your ROI
You should also think about your ROI. If you happen to be playing in tournaments which give about 1000 times your number of buy-in, then you can make the strong moves in order to get into a deep finish.
You must have luck that holds out severally out of one thousand if you happen to be a hard player.
If you find an expert making it too deep to a huge tournament, get an entire swing of hands where the player got lucky.
You want to ensure that you are taking the risks so as to use the lucksack plan.
To do this, you must gamble at several spots in a tournament-so ensure that you do this when you have a chance of gaining quite a lot.
